3Suisses
Freight Tracking System from Forwarder to Buyer for a large home shopping company with operations across Europe.
The Problem:
- The Company sources its products from suppliers worldwide and various Sea, Air and Truck Forwarders deliver these to their central warehouse. Due to high volumes and complexity of transactions, it was difficult to track the status of each order
- To inquire about the order status, the company either had to go to the Forwarder's tracking site, if it had one, or get the information from the forwarder's office, which was turning out to be very tedious and time consuming
- Direction implemented a solution wherein all the Forwarders' information would be uploaded to a common Tracking site where the company could view the consolidated information at one place
Data Uploading Module:
- After the Forwarder had uploaded the data, an automatic data extraction program extracts the data from the data files and uploads the same to the company's site
- This system permits the Forwarders to email or FTP their data to a data collection facility in MS Excel, Text file, MDB File or DBF file formats
- The system also permits the company to extract the data from the Forwarders Tracking site provided the forwarder data is in XML format
The Tracking site:
- The orders are classified as Shipped, Open and Ready orders so that it is simpler for the client to track particular type of orders
- The site is rights based and users are allowed to view data pertaining to their department/s only
- All Users have the option to download the data in an Excel and various other formats
